  • One-Line Bio

I am an American who now calls Buenos Aires home. I call myself "CaliPorteña."

    Biography

I came to Argentina in December 2000 to dance tango. Along the way I fell in love with the culture, the people, and the lifestyle.

From 2000 until 2004 I was in Buenos Aires 18 times. It got to where one of my clients asked me if computer consulting was the hobby to tango dancing. My friends used to tease me that I was going to stand by freeway entrances with a sign that said "I work for tickets to Buenos Aires."

In 2004 I made Buenos Aires my permanent home. I sold everything I owned in California..my house, car, truck, and 3 floors of stuff. I came with Roxie (my doggie daughter) my dance shoes, and my computer to start my new life. It was the best decision I ever made.

I have never looked back, I have no regrets. This is the happiest I have ever been in my life. I have gone from being a stressed out business analyst to providing lodging for guests in my apartment and teaching English. I make a fraction of the money I used to, but life is good.

I may not have all the "toys" any more, but I have what is important to me. I have wonderful friends, a happy life...and of course the tango.

On September 16, 2008 I lost my beloved Roxie. It was one of the most devastating losses I have ever suffered. I thought I would never want another dog. But then in December, I felt that there was a dog out there looking for me. In January 2008. Juan, Roxie's dogwalker found Maximiliana who was maybe 3 months old, abandoned. She is known as "La Demonia."

I received my permanent residency in 2009. I am part of a Argentine IT small business. I still teach, perform, and dance tango.
